Amcom Software Acquires CommtechWireless
- Combined companies create clear leader in end-to-end, mission-critical communication solutions for healthcare, hospitality, and government.
- Merger enables organizations to connect islands of critical information and deliver to user’s preferred wireless devices.
MINNEAPOLIS, MN – September 30, 2008 – Amcom Software today announced the acquisition of CommtechWireless, a leading provider of technology that connects critical data sources, such as nurse call alarms and patient monitors, to the right people via their preferred communication devices. The addition of CommtechWireless will enable Amcom Software to meet growing demand from customers—especially in the healthcare, government, and hospitality industries—to further streamline communications, improve response time, and enhance effectiveness.
Said Amcom Software CEO Chris Heim, "For 40 years, our customers have relied on Amcom as their mission-critical communication backbone. Today, with the purchase of CommtechWireless, we have extended this backbone to integrate data from devices and instantly connect these islands of critical information to the people that need to know about it and act on it."
Demand for technology that connects data sources to communication systems is growing as organizations recognize a need to gather critical data and relay the right information to an increasingly mobile workforce. Where beeps and alarms used to suffice, meaningful messages delivered quickly to mobile devices are the new rule.
CommtechWireless has operations in the United States, Australia, Hong Kong, and Europe. Its employees and operations will remain in their current locations, forming a new division of Amcom Software. CommtechWireless CEO Nathan Buzza and President Zane Lewis will join Amcom Software to lead the division. "We are thrilled about this acquisition and how it will benefit our customers and employees," said Buzza. "It’s a perfect match in terms of products, industries, and company culture. We’re very impressed with Amcom Software’s leadership and are confident they’ll help take CommtechWireless to the next level of success."
Added Amcom Software CFO, Dan Mayleben, "CommtechWireless is an excellent fit for us and continues our strategy of growing by acquiring strong companies with complementary technologies, vertical strength, and great people. We welcome the employees of CommtechWireless and their many customers to Amcom Software, knowing they’ll all benefit from our development, technology and financial strength."
CommtechWireless president Zane Lewis commented, "We’re very proud of the fantastic team that has helped create CommtechWireless and now will help it grow even further. Our solutions will add a crucial link between patient monitoring, emergency alert systems, customer paging and high-security government systems to Amcom Software’s industry-leading, mission-critical communications abilities. This will be a great deal for our customers, our employees and our partners as Amcom Software continues to accelerate our collective growth strategies."
