  • Rankings published by Thomson Reuters

MINNEAPOLIS, MN – April 16, 2009 – Amcom Software, Inc., today announced that 10 out of 15 "Major Teaching Hospitals," as ranked by Thomson Reuters, rely on the company's mission-critical software applications. These leading facilities use their Amcom solutions to improve call center operations, provide online on-call scheduling, or integrate critical alarms with mobile devices. Ultimately, they are able to enhance patient, visitor, and staff safety through advanced technology applications. The rankings appeared recently in Thomson Reuters' "100 Top Hospitals: National Benchmarks 2008 Study."

To create this year's rankings, the Thomson Reuters study evaluated data on 3,000 U.S. hospitals, 174 of which were considered "Major Teaching Hospitals." Only 15 of these were selected for the final list of the top 100 hospitals. The study considered nine categories of information in the areas of clinical excellence, efficiency and financial health, and patient perception of care. "We're thrilled that so many of our customers are achieving their care and safety goals through innovative uses of Amcom solutions and are honored to be partnering with so many of the best."

Amcom solutions integrate and automate mission-critical communications within hospitals. The company's product suite has expanded dramatically through the acquisitions of SDC Solutions, Commtech Wireless, Xtend Communications, and Telident E911 products. Amcom's contact center software integrates diverse information sources and technologies to enable operational efficiencies such as online on-call scheduling management, messaging and group-call services, automated answering functionality, and simplified patient and guest communications. Many of these top hospitals also are equipped with Amcom's solutions to ensure business continuity and the safety and security of their patients and staff. Wireless messaging middleware solutions round out these capabilities by integrating an array of critical alarm and alert systems, such as nurse call, patient monitoring, fire, and building management, with the wireless devices carried by mobile staff.
