Ozcare Improves Care for Residents With Amcom Software Mobile Event Notification

  • Middleware integrates with nurse call system and fire panel to send notifications and alerts directly to mobile staff on wireless phones
  • Systems have been installed at five of the 10 Ozcare aged care facilities

PERTH, Western Australia – May 6, 2010 – Amcom Software, Inc., today announced that Ozcare, a leading non-profit health and community services provider in Queensland, has installed the Amcom Fusion mobile event notification software to improve response times to patient requests and safety concerns. This middleware send alerts from the nurse call system and fire panel directly to the right staff member carrying a wireless phone. Ozcare currently has 10 residential aged care facilities with more than 1,200 residents. To date, Ozcare has installed five Fusion systems, with plans to implement five more into the remaining aged care facilities to finalise the project.

For the first time Ozcare can take nurse call requests and send full text messages to wireless phones within seconds. They have improved response times, confident that every message is permanently archived in the system with date and time stamps. This enables staff to track who has sent, received, and responded to no¬tifications, and within what timeframe. Ozcare has also improved management metrics thanks to the system's robust reporting capabilities. These help them comply with strict legislation relating to aged care facilities.
