Avera McKennan Hospital Protects Patients With Communications Solutions from Amcom Software

  • Enhanced 911 system enables Avera McKennan to notify first responders of a 911 caller's exact location to speed response

MINNEAPOLIS, MN – July 26, 2011 – Amcom Software, Inc. today announced that Avera McKennan Hospital & University Health Center is raising the level of safety across its organization for patients, residents, and staff. The Sioux Falls, S.D., hospital combines Amcom's enhanced 911 (E911) system with its call center solutions to alert both the public safety answering point as well as on-site personnel when people need immediate assistance.

The Amcom E911 solution encompasses more than 10,000 phones throughout Avera's large campus. Whenever 911 is dialed, the system sends the precise location of the call—down to the building, floor, and room number—to the first responders. The hospital also uses Amcom's operator console and Web directory solutions in its busy call center, where it processes thousands of calls quickly, efficiently, and accurately. When 911 calls are placed, first responders often contact the call center en route to the facility to coordinate care. Both of these solutions are well integrated with Avera's Siemens and Cisco phone systems.
