Las Positas College Puts Student Safety First with Amcom Software's Enhanced 911 Solution

MINNEAPOLIS – September 8, 2011 – Amcom Software, Inc. today announced that Las Positas College is protecting the safety of everyone on campus with the help of Amcom's enhanced 911 (E911) system. When someone dials 911 from the Livermore, Calif., college, the E911 solution provides both the Campus Safety department and local 911 call center with the 911 caller's location, including the building, floor, and room number.
The Amcom E911 solution integrates with Las Positas' Siemens phone system and covers more than 800 phones located throughout the campus. While a 911 call is in progress, the Campus Safety department receives a quick snapshot of the event on a wall monitor, including location information and the extension of the caller. This information can be transmitted to mobile security staff on their smartphones to aid in valuable first responder assistance.
